Sensational walks for everyone.
The Yorkshire Dales are famous for many things, but the beautiful walking opportunities are undoubtedly one of the most popular aspects. They boast some of the finest limestone scenery in the UK and the sheer number, length and variety of different routes ensure that the Dales are a favourite amongst the walking community. Tipperthwaite Barn is ideally situated to take advantage!
There is something here for everyone, however fit or energetic you are. Whether you want to take on the highest peaks, such as the challenging Three Peaks Walk (Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) or prefer a tea shop or pub walk, perhaps meandering along one of the beautiful rivers, it is all here. Whatever your preference, you will not be disappointed.
If you want to explore further afield, the Lake District is less than an hour away and the lesser known but equally stunning Howgills and Bowland Fells are also within easy reach.
We have a wide range of walking guide books and Ordnance Survey maps covering all these areas to give you some ideas and inspiration. Guests are welcome to use them whilst on their stay.
Cycle The Yorkshire Dales
The Yorkshire Dales is a must visit destination for all cyclists. Hosting the Tour de France in 2014, the world witnessed how fantastic the area is on two wheels. For the road cyclist, you will find some of the legendary climbs of the Yorkshire Dales on the doorstep and routes to challenge the most fanatical rider. Explore beautiful countryside, pretty villages and discover some great tea shops and cafes (a must for every cyclist).
It’s not all about the Dales, however. The stunning Forest of Bowland is equally accessible and offers quiet roads, amazing scenery and fabulous cafes and pubs to explore. For the less energetic, there
are many gentler yet equally stunning rides to explore on a stay at Tipperthwaite Barn. The mountain biker is no less well served. The Dales offer some of the country’s greatest tracks and Gisburn Forest provides brilliant trails for riders of all levels.
We are just as fanatical about cycling as our guests and can advise you on the best routes, the best cafes and the local bike shops. We will look after your bike as well as we look after you. Your bike is safe in our secure bike store room. There is no need to bring all the usual gubbins with you. We have track pumps, a wide selection of bike tools and even spare tubes.
If you don’t want to bring your bike or don’t have one, there are places locally with a good selection of mountain, hybrid, junior and electric bikes for hire.
